Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

Brain doping from the LA Times. (A few days old, but I just found it.)

And why do real programmers confuse Halloween with Christmas? Because 31 OCT = 25 DEC.

I regularly take a beta blocker; a year ago I had to speak in front of about 70 people. The people who asked me to talk changed the topic four times, in fact changed it the day before the talk.

So I was nervous, and I knew the beta blockers helped calm nerves, so I upped my dosage.

About 15 minutes into my talk I said 'f*ck', The beta blocker worked.

The way the Christian religious calendar, the Indo-Arabic decimal system, the use of octal in software development, and the standard set of English abbreviations converged to make that joke possible is, to me, more unambiguous evidence that G-d has a sense of humor. :)

Hi Isabel, any posts you'd like to submit to the Carnival of Mathematics? I'm hosting it on Friday over at The Math Less Traveled and would love to include one of your posts. Thanks!
